Keep your operating system and browser updated- An example, Microsoft offers an automatic update facility for their Windows operating systems and they are continually updating their systems to make them operate more efficiently and faster and to provide more security features and protection against unwanted intrusion. You can set your operating system to check and download updates to Windows automatically and in order to ensure that your operating system is secure, it is important to make sure it's always up-to-date.

6. Set up a username and password for logging on to your computer- This can be done by your administrator and will be separate from the login you enter to gain access to the network. If you're using a stand-alone computer, create a user account that will prompt you for a login and password during the boot-up process.
