Internet security is the protection of a computer’s internet account and files from intrusion of unauthorized users. This is because when a computer connects to the network and start communicating with others, there will be risk. There are 3 examples of threat usually appear in the internet:
A computer virus is a program that can attach and infect a computer itself without the owner’s notice. It can spread from one computer to another computer. This is because users usually share their files through internet or by a removable medium such as floppy disk or USB drive and this may let the virus have a chance to transfer to another computer.
A computer worm is a self-replicating computer program. It sends copies of itself to other computer using network without any user intervention. It is different with virus because it does not need to attach itself to a program. When computer is infected by worms, it will make the computer program slow. It sometimes also will cause system failures.
Trojan horse
A Trojan horse is a type of malware that appears to perform a desirable function to the user but in fact, it makes the computer easier of unauthorized access to the user’s computer system. Trojan horse is different with viruses and worms. They are not self-replicating and they require user cooperation to fulfill their purpose.
